Why Anxiety is Good For You In Midlife

Dr Tracy Dennis Tiwary

We take a very different perspective on anxiety during menopause today with my next guest Tracy A. Dennis-Tiwary. She has a Ph.D. and is a professor of psychology and neuroscience, Director of the Emotion Regulation Lab, and Co-Executive Director of the Center for Health Technology at Hunter College in New York City, where the mission is to connect researchers, community stakeholders, and technology innovators to bridge the healthcare gap.

She has a very interesting role as a founder and CSO of Arcade Therapeutics, where she translates neuroscience and cognitive therapy techniques into gamified, clinically validated digital therapeutics for mental health. She is a busy momma and published over 100 scientific articles and delivered over 400 presentations at academic conferences and for corporate clients. You may have seen her in the media where she has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, ABC, CBS, CNN, NPR, The Today Show, and Bloomberg Television.

In this podcast we cover:

  • The difference between stress and anxiety
  • How to manage anxiety during menopause
  • The therapeutic approach of acceptance and commitment therapy
  • Mental health is a process, not an endpoint
